A campaign about other people's misleading numbers cannot round its own. So here is the whole curve, including our own fee and its worst point.
You pay what the provider charges, to the cent. We add nothing to a call. A call we judge a failure never touches your balance.
Added on top, never taken out. Ask for $10.00, pay $10.80, spend $10.00 exactly. Minimum top-up is $5.00; the form starts at $10.00.
| Onto your balance | Our fee | Your card is charged | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5.00 the minimum | +$0.55 | $5.55 | 11.00% |
| $10.00 what the form starts at | +$0.80 | $10.80 | 8.00% |
| $16.00 | +$1.10 | $17.10 | 6.88% |
| $20.00 | +$1.30 | $21.30 | 6.50% |
| $100.00 | +$5.30 | $105.30 | 5.30% |
At the $5.00 minimum that works out at 11.0% of what you can spend, which is the worst rate we charge anyone. We would rather print it than let you find it. The Top-up form starts at $10.00, where it is 8.0%, and it keeps falling toward 5% as you top up more, without ever reaching a flat 5%.
The flat $0.30 is there because a card processor charges 2.9% plus a flat $0.30 on every payment. A percentage alone would lose money on small Top-ups, and we take nothing on the calls to make it back.
$1.00 free credit when you sign in, once. It expires after 30 days. Anything you top up never does.
DERIVED: 5% of the Top-up plus a flat $0.30, added on top (#100). Effective rate = fee / Top-up. Rerun scripts/site/build-site.mjs to reproduce every row.
